A new technology for the polyglots
Over recent years we have become tourists. And most of us have been damned language barrier. After all, one wants to have a heart of Tokyo with the Japanese in Beijing - the Chinese, in Rome - with the Italians. But it seems that we will soon forget about it and start an insurmountable barrier to talk at once ... all languages.
In any case, such a future, we promise to experts from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). They
invented a new technology that allows computers to learn any language,
displays automatic speech recognition to a new level, writes km.ru.
Norwegian researchers have shown that the reproduction of the human voice is the same mechanism in any language. Scientists based on phonetics, that is, the study of human speech sounds. They
are also included in the speech, and the "system" of multiple
languages, for example, the order of words in the formation of
sentences.
The
method, developed by Dr. Torbjörn Svendsen from the Norwegian
University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and his colleagues,
including computer training ability to determine which parts of the
speech organs are activated, based on the analysis of the pressure of
sound waves recorded by a microphone.
True,
the language recognition technology is quite limited in application;
this development is only useful where multiple languages
simultaneously. Test version takes about 30-60 seconds to identify the language. This
can be useful in cases where, for example, a person makes a
presentation in one language and at the same time the author cites the
other. The novelty will be available in five years.
